Rainy days and blanket forts
When it rains we move the play inside, and the blankets come out. Here is how a fort turns into a lesson in teamwork.

On wet days our teachers pull out a basket of linen blankets and wooden cushions. Within minutes the Twos and Preschool rooms are filled with forts.
Building a fort takes planning. Which cushion goes where? How do we keep the roof up? Children test ideas, argue politely and try again, which is the learning we are really after.
When the fort is finished, a teacher reads a book inside with whoever fits. It is one of the most requested activities in the building.
